With a pedigree of being awarded the Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria and 5 succeeding monarchs, it is no wonder London’s premiere barber shop, Geo F. Trumper, has consistently ranked in the top ten of men’s grooming products.

Geo F. Trumper shaving creams have been a favorite of wet shaving enthusiasts for three centuries and is considered the best shaving cream in the world.  It ranked #1 on Ape to GentlemanThe Shaving Shack Blog ranked Geo F. Trumper Extract of Limes Soft Shaving Cream at #3 among the world’s top ten shaving creams.  On forums such as Badger and Blade, Geo F. Trumper shaving cream has been a long time favorite of members.  Established since 1875, it is obvious they had time on their side to get it right. It shouldn’t be a mystery that they still reign supreme in men’s grooming products.  But does it live up to its reputation in my husband’s eyes?

Description:  Our famous glycerine based almond soft shaving cream in a large 200g screw thread bowl. With a distinctive sweet, nutty fragrance.

Only a small amount is required for each shave to produce a luxurious lather.

Suitable for normal to dry skin

Scent:   My husband wasn’t too crazy about the scent.  He said the smell was way too sweet and didn’t like the idea of smellling like marzipan. There was nothing wrong with the scent in my opinion, foody fragrances are just not his thing. He said it felt like he was spreading marzipan across his face.  If you’re the gourmand type, this would be right up your alley.  It smells buttery, creamy, nutty and sweet. I personally love the smell of marzipan. To each his own.  My husband says the fragrance didn’t linger too long on the skin after the shave.

Lather:  It does what it says. It creates a rich, thick creamy lather. Not a surprise since it is made with glycerin which is also great for sensitive skin.  A little does go a long way using a brush.  It also takes no effort to get the perfect lather.  Also the packaging is convenient as it serves as a shaving bowl.

Shaving Performance:  The thick, creamy lather created a protective layer by providing cushion for his skin.  The shaving cream also allowed the blade to glide smoothly across his face.  As a result, hairs were cut evenly without irritation.  It left his skin smooth, calm, and soft.  No irritation, razor burns, or nasty knicks. At the end of the shave, he was able to easily rinse the lather off his face and blade.  He didn’t have to deal with nasty residue like cheaper shaving creams.  No fuss, no muss.

Pricepoint:  For a 200g jar, it’s $32.00.  On the pricey side but you get what you pay for.  It lasts a long time too since a little goes a long way.

Would he buy this again? Yes, but in a different scent.  He wants to try Sandalwood (popular among the gents) and Coconut.

His Final Verdict:  He thinks its an excellent shaving cream and it lives up to its reputation. Although, I got the impression he doesn’t think it was the best thing since sliced bread.  His enthusiasm was indifferent.  I think it’s mainly because the marzipan scent was clouding his judgement but as far as shaving performance goes it is excellent and really did make his shaving experience enjoyable.  Ladies, if your man is into wet shaving and you want to get him something luxurious, this would be a perfect gift.  He will love it.  You will love it too because it will leave your man’s face smooth as baby skin and kissably soft. Geo F. Trumper Shave Cream puts luxury back in the lost art of shaving.

This one gets a thumbs up from hubby (and me):
